Child Anxiety- The Story of my 6yr old Client
When I started the Spinal Flow sessions for this 6 year old boy back in May, he was struggling with severe generalized anxiety and separation anxiety that interfered with his ability to manage some of his daily functioning. It was hard to believe that he suffered from these anxiety issues at all as he seemed like a regular happy kid, a little shy but very kind and loving.
His moderate level of anxiety started at a very young age and progressed as he got older. The symptoms of these conditions included increased anxiety during transitional periods, anticipatory anxiety with unfamiliar academic and recreational programs and avoidance and discomfort in group settings. Anxiety or separation anxiety is very normal and common for children especially during their toddler and young childhood years but for him, it was much more extreme. The anxiety that most kids go through especially in new settings may last for a week, several weeks in some cases but with him, it would go on for months and months. Even in familiar settings with friends and teachers he’s known for a long time, subtle changes may trigger his anxiety which caused disruption in his participation in activities he had already been well-acclimated to and enjoyed. At times, he will emotionally shut down and become non communicative.
He has gotten counseling, art therapy, his parents implemented everything they’ve learned through reading countless books on child anxiety and yet, it continued year after year on various levels in various ways. His anxiety was a constant companion, a heavy weight that seemed impossible to shake. What was most heartbreaking was to see all the fun and opportunities he was missing out on. It’s been a long battle for him with lots of fear, frustration and tears that continued day after day, month after month.
Now after almost 3 months of consistent Spinal Flow sessions, 10-15 min sessions everyday for the first month, then 3-4 days a week for 2 months, he is a completely different kid. He recently made a huge transition into a completely new school in September. New teacher, new group of kids, commuting for the first time on a school bus to and from school, there were so many hurdles that would’ve triggered his anxiety but there were no signs of it. The Spinal Flow sessions slowly melted the anxiety away one layer at a time until there was none. He is excited to go to school everyday, embracing new challenges and talks about all the new friends he is making rather than focusing on all of the things that are not familiar to him. The severe anxiety that once held him back is now a distant memory.
This 6 year old boy is my son. He has gone through a significant transformation just like I did, back in May of 2024 when I went for my Spinal Flow immersive training. I noticed little changes over the past few months and of course all of the efforts we’ve made did help a little but I never imagined that this transition into the new school would happen like this, not even one tear, just smiles, excitement and enthusiasm. My jaw literally dropped seeing the first few days of his transition into the new school.
Knowing our history, this transition was something I was dreading and bracing myself for the past year, scrambling to do everything I can to prepare him the best way I can. But this transformation really felt like a miracle. Now this is not to say that my child will never feel anxious again, but by releasing spinal blockages, his level of anxiety has significantly decreased and he is able to better process and manage it. And I share this with you all because this is exactly why I decided to change my career to become a Spinal Flow Practitioner. As a parent, there is nothing more heartbreaking than seeing your child suffer in any way. And if I can help your child heal, to change their lives, to help relieve their suffering as well as yours, the parent’s, I would be honored to be a part of that journey. Because I know first hand that parents can suffer as much if not more, when their child is suffering. Spinal Flow is one of the best things I can do for my child to keep him healthy and strong, mentally and physically and I believe the same for you and for your child.
